Have a trip scheduled for this summer and want to be comfortable, yet stylish, while you travel? I have some great summer travel outfit ideas for you!
Whether you’re jetting off to an all-inclusive resort or heading to a cruise port, you want to be comfortable while you travel. Flying is uncomfortable enough without your clothing adding to your woes, right?
We cruise frequently and live over two thousand miles away from the nearest cruise port, so all-day flying isn’t new to me. Cruising frequently, I’ve learned how to pack efficiently, and choosing my travel outfits is a part of that process that I take seriously.
Your travel outfits will change with the seasons, and with summer coming up quickly, now seems the right time to share my best summer travel outfit ideas with you.

Outfit Parameters
Everyone’s style is different, but some things should remain constant with any good travel outfit:
- It must be comfortable
- It will preferably be wrinkle-free
- It can adapt to changing temperatures
- It’s stylish
Keeping those things in mind, I’ve come up with travel outfits in several different styles to give you ideas of how to choose your own travel outfits for summertime that are also stylish. I’ve chosen them from different retailers and price points, hoping to find something that makes you say, “That! That’s the outfit for me.” With each retailer, I’ve chosen a top, pants, another top layer in case the plane is cold, and shoes.

Store inventories are fluid, so you may click on an item to shop it and find it’s no longer available. In any case, you can see the look I was going for.
Chico’s
I started with Chico’s because I like their classic, elegant style, and also because they have an entire wrinkle-free collection dedicated to travelers. They lean heavily on black for traveling for several good reasons: it’s flattering, slimming, hides dirt, and wrinkles aren’t as apparent. The floral tunic I chose relieves all the black with pops of berry and green.
J. Crew
This outfit from J. Crew has more of a preppy look in a color palette of ivory and black.
L.L. Bean
If you’re the outdoorsy type, this outfit from L.L. Bean should be familiar and comfortable for you. The pants are wrinkle-free, and the Tropicwear shirt provides UPF 50+ sun protection.
Old Navy
For an inexpensive casual outfit, you can’t beat Old Navy. I have several pairs of these chinos in various colors, and I love them. They’re incredibly comfortable. The slip-on sneakers are perfect for going through airport security, and the cardigan is lightweight and breathable.
