If you’re curious about dining at the specialty restaurants on Celebrity Cruises, we’ve tried them and have photos and menus for you. Here’s our Fine Cut Steakhouse review.
On our recent Baltic cruise on Celebrity Apex, we purchased a three-meal specialty dining package for $303.98. We’ve eaten at Fine Cut Steakhouse before and liked it, so were eager to dine there again and made two reservations.
Our first meal on Day Five of the cruise was excellent. Our second meal on Day Eight, however, was a miss for us. Read on to see what happened.

The Details
- Specialty: Fine steaks and fine wine
- Hours: 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
- Dress Code: Smart Casual
- Cover Charge: $65 per guest
The Decor
When you walk into Fine Cut Steakhouse, you can immediately tell that wine is a priority for them. Their extensive wine collection is on display as you check in at the hostess stand. The hostess will take your room number, and a waiter will escort you to your table.

At your table, you’ll be introduced to your waiter, who will ascertain if you have any food allergies, give you your menus, and then ask for your water preferences. A moment later, an assistant waiter will pour your water and bring you butter with a metal basket of bread and crispy breadsticks, which are delicious.
The sommelier will stop by to introduce themself and ask for your wine preferences, help you with your selections, and will remove your wine glasses if you choose to forgo the wine. With that done, your waiter will return and help you with your dinner selections.Â

The Menu
Below, you’ll see two versions of the Fine Cut Steakhouse menu, the first an abridged version, which I imagine is for smaller ships, and the second a fuller version similar to the one we ordered from on the Apex. These menus are subject to change.

Appetizers
Between our two meals at Fine Cut, we ordered the following five appetizers: crab cake, kale applewood bacon salad, ricotta gnocchi, wedge salad, and baby arugula salad.
Myron enjoyed the crab cake but was a little disappointed in the wedge salad, since it was a much smaller wedge and didn’t have the traditional flavors of a wedge salad. I had the kale salad and had to give Myron the Nueske bacon; it was too thick and fatty for me. I did enjoy the ricotta gnocchi and the baby arugula salad, however.

Side Dishes
For side dishes, we tried the asparagus, smoked bacon mac and cheese, tater tots, steak fries, and baked potato. All were delicious except the baked potato, which was dry and overcooked.

Entrées
For entrées, we ordered the ribeye steak and the filet mignon at the first meal, and at the second meal, we both ordered the bone-in filet. That turned out to be a big mistake.
The ribeye and the filet were wonderful, cooked to perfection. The problem was with the bone-in filet mignons.
In the photos below, you can’t tell because of the zoom that’s different on each plate, but those plates are all the same size dinner plate. The 14-ounce ribeye steak is large, nearly filling the center of the plate. The 9-ounce filet mignon was also nice-sized, and thick as well.

The bone-in filets, however, were advertised as nine ounces, and before we ordered them, we made sure to ask the waiter if the weight included the bone. We were assured that it did not. So, we ordered them and received the tiny cut of meat you see there, which was maybe four ounces without the bone. Not only was the bone-in filet a lot smaller than the filet I’d had a few nights before, but it was half the thickness as well. To me, it looked like a child’s portion.
As we ate our dinner, we became more and more disenchanted with the steaks and decided to let the waiter know. Complaining about a meal is something we rarely ever resort to, hating to do that. But this was just not acceptable. Myron had worked in a meat shop for several years when he was young, so he knows the cuts of beef well. This, however, was like nothing he’d ever seen, and it certainly wasn’t the size we had expected.
By the time the chef arrived to see what was wrong, we’d already finished our meal. We explained about the filet being less than half the weight of what a normal filet should be, and that the cut was like nothing we’d ever seen. The chef offered to make us another steak, but we were already full.
The chef apologized and took our room number, and we thought that perhaps we’d receive an invitation to come dine again as an apology. That didn’t happen, and as expensive as that disappointing meal was, we’re still not happy about that.
Dessert
We did order dessert after one of our meals, and they were yummy as expected.

The Service
The service was fine for this meal, not too hurried and not too slow, but again, we were disappointed not to be offered a free dinner. Too much to expect? Maybe. But we’ll never order the “bone-in filet” again.

Final Thoughts On Fine Cut Steakhouse On Celebrity Apex
Overall, our experience with Fine Cut Steakhouse was a good one, with delicious food and good service. If they’d offered us another meal after the fact, since we’d already finished eating, we would have been completely satisfied.
