Looking to invest in a new piece of luggage, or maybe a set? You might want to consider Ricardo Beverly Hills, a recognized brand known for stylish, durable luggage. Our set has been on many trips and has passed the test. Ricardo Beverly Hills luggage review follows.
In this post, we will discuss their features, as well as their advantages and disadvantages.

Our Ricardo Luggage
We prefer hard-sided luggage and have two pieces from the Mojave line, a medium-size checked bag and a large checked bag. We also have a carry-on and a large checked bag from another Ricardo Beverly Hills luggage line, purchased so long ago we can’t remember which one.
All are still being used and are holding up well. We take eight or so cruises a year, plus trips to visit family, and at least two pieces of this luggage go with us on every trip.
Since we know the hard-sided variety of Ricardo Beverly Hills luggage so well, we will focus on those.

Company History
Founded by Richard “Ricardo” Gibbs in 1978 in Beverly Hills, California, Ricardo Beverly Hills specializes in crafting and marketing top-notch luggage and travel accessories. The company’s headquarters is situated in the greater Seattle area, with an extensive global distribution network spanning five continents and over 40 countries.
Sizes and Material
The hard-sided Ricardo Beverly Hills lines are constructed of a poly-carbonate alloy, its finish scratch-resistant and durable. Unzipped, you have two spacious compartments to fill. Smooth-rolling spinner wheels are recessed for stability.
The lines come in a large 29-inch checked bag, a medium 25-inch checked bag, and a 20-inch carry-on bag.
One thing we really like about Ricardo Beverly Hills hard-sided luggage is the varying patterns in the design on the luggage, as well as their color choices. This variety helps you identify your own bags on the airport’s conveyor belt quickly, eliminating confusion with other people’s bags.
Advantages
Hard-sided luggage has several advantages.
- It protects its contents from the weather, which is critical when your luggage is being loaded onto the airplane in a pouring rain.
- It is durable, enduring rough handling with ease.
- Its packing capacity is expandable with the use of a second set of zippers.
- Its finish is scratch-resistant, keeping your luggage looking new for longer.
- Comes with adjustable compression straps, allowing you to pack more.
- Includes a zip-closed divider, which is perfect for paperwork.
- Has an adjustable telescoping handle.
- Has a bottom grip, which helps when picking up a heavy suitcase.
Disadvantages
Hard-sided luggage also has some disadvantages.
- We have learned the hard way that the handle can break if the luggage is very overweight. When packing, we suggest not exceeding 50 pounds or so in the large check-in bag.
- Screws on the telescoping handle may need to be tightened over time.
Warranty
Ricardo Beverly Hills offers a limited warranty on its luggage for ten years from the date of purchase. For more information, visit their website.

You never know when your luggage might be lost during travel, so it’s a good idea to keep your contact information accessible.
