Fabulous Winter Wardrobe Essentials

Whether you are cruising somewhere cold or enjoying winter at home, you want to be comfortable and stylish, am I right? I do too, and I thought I would share my winter wardrobe essentials from this year.
The photo above is the view of our backyard in winter. Living in North Idaho, we get several feet of snow each year, but this year promises to be warmer and wetter. I’m thrilled about that because it means I don’t have to bundle up so much this year when we leave the house, or wear snow boots.
Here are the new items in my closet that I’m finding essential this fall and winter. Being neutral, they mix, match, and layer beautifully. Although this collection isn’t exactly a cruise capsule wardrobe, it could be a cold-weather cruise capsule wardrobe with the addition of a few tops and other items.
No dresses are included in my winter wardrobe essentials because in my area of the country, dresses are impractical for winter. It’s usually too cold and snowy to consider wearing them here this time of year.
Most of these items are from Chico’s (I have been refreshing my wardrobe with them this fall). Rounding out the wardrobe are items from Banana Republic Factory, Allbirds, and Nordstrom.
Store inventories are fluid, so you may click on an item to shop it and find it’s no longer available. In any case, you can see the look I was going for.
Tops
These three tops have been my go-to items this fall and now winter. The colorblock sweater is so stylish, and it’s soft! The ecru pullover sweater is extra long, light enough to layer with a vest. And the V-neck sweater is lightweight and flattering.
Pants
The black slacks are from Chico’s Juliet line, which I absolutely love. They pull on, giving you a sleek front without belt loops or a zipper, and the ponte fabric is wrinkle-resistant and warm. Plus, they’re incredibly slimming and flattering. I wear these all the time!
The jeans are also pull-on, with a little more flare in the boot cut than you see in the photo below. My advice is to buy Chico’s jeans a half size smaller than you normally would due to their stretching out with wear.
Shoes
A nice bootie is a must for fall and winter, and Born is my favorite manufacturer. Their boots are made to last and fit like a glove. I have several pairs of Born booties, and they have lasted for years.
The Allbirds sneaker is made of wool and is washable, which is a huge plus. Plus, they are incredibly comfortable and perfect for travel.
Outerwear
The quilted vest from Chico’s has faux leather trim and is quite warm, making it my go-to outerwear for running quick errands in cold weather. It is a perfect layering piece.
The puffer jacket is made of faux leather, soft and warm. Although I don’t wear jackets often (amazing, since I live in North Idaho), this one would be my choice.
Accessories
To round out the winter wardrobe essential list, you need a few accessories. This scarf and the quilted faux leather gloves are stylish yet comfortable and would make great gifts or stocking stuffers.
