The Suite

The Sky Suite is like a studio apartment with its combined living/sleeping area and separate bathroom. At 319 square feet, it is large enough for two people to be quite comfortable. The color scheme for the cabins on the Edge is cream and gray with blue accents, which is very calming.

Our cabin was 10147 on Deck Ten, toward the bow (or front) of the ship. We weren’t too far from the forward elevator bank, which gave us easy access to the rest of the ship.

In this post, I’ll discuss the sky suite itself and not the Retreat amenities.

The Bed

Where you’ll spend the most time in your sky suite is the bed with a luxurious king-size mattress. In the Retreat, your bed will have a mattress topper that makes the bed soft, but not too soft. The cashmere mattress is perfect, and we had no complaints. Crisp white sheets and a light comforter keep you comfortable at night.

The bed is made with two pillows per person, which you can switch out with your cabin attendant if you don’t care for them. Four decorative pillows and a bed runner complete the look and are removed during the nightly turndown service.

On the left side of the bed is a small bedside table with a bedside lamp and three cubbies, large enough for you to store smaller items. There isn’t much storage on this side, nor is there an electrical outlet.

The table on the right side of the bed is twice as wide to hold a room phone. It’s also large enough for a CPAP machine that needs more tabletop room. A lamp and a single 110V outlet are on this side of the bed. This table has two larger cubbies.

Pro Tip: The bed is high enough off the floor to store even large suitcases beneath it while closed. For beds that aren’t quite that high, you can open your suitcase like a book and slide it under, making it a great place to store your clothes after wearing.

Other Furnishings

A chaise-style couch with two decorative pillows gives you a place to sit, although it’s a little stiff and uncomfortable. A coffee table provides a small eating area inside, large enough for a continental breakfast but not for dinner.

On the opposite wall is a dresser with three large divided drawers, and a small cabinet that hides the mini fridge. The small desk at the end with a chair and a lighted mirror is the perfect place to check yourself before leaving your cabin, or for doing your makeup or hair if the bathroom is occupied.

Refreshments

A tray sits on the desk with two large bottled waters, an ice bucket with tongs, and two small glasses.

Your mini fridge is in the white cabinet. Here you see it stocked with complimentary Cokes and canned water.

Pro Tip: Ask your butler to stock your fridge with whatever sodas or other drinks. They’ll be happy to provide you with what you want.

A leather portfolio can be found on the desk. It contains a welcome letter and business cards from your butler, cabin steward, and concierge team. You’ll also find menus for room service here, tickets for your excursions, and invitations to any cocktail parties.

Technology

On the dresser is a white box that hides a charging station. It contains one 220V and two 110V plugs, plus two USB ports. Tuck your cords inside and close the lid, and it’s all hidden away.

The large flat-screen TV above the counter is the perfect size for such a large room. It’s on a swivel arm, which makes it easy to angle it toward the bed for better viewing. A remote control is provided.

On the wall across from the closets in the entryway is a control panel for the room, allowing you to control the temperature, adjust the lighting, or open and close the drapes. Settings at the bottom provide easy lighting/drape combinations for morning, movie, evening, and sleep.

Closets and Storage

On the left as you enter the cabin is a large closet with a full bar, a half bar, and plenty of wooden hangers. Dresses fit on the side where there isn’t a half bar.

The inside of one door has a full-length mirror, which comes in handy. I wish there was more room in the bottom of this closet to store all the shoes I tend to bring on a cruise.

To the right is a smaller closet with four shelves and three small drawers. A safe for your valuables is on the bottom shelf. Here is where you’ll find umbrellas and binoculars for your use during your cruise. A laundry bag and form are also left for you here.

The Bathroom

The bathroom is roomy with a large spa tub with a tub/shower combination, a double sink, and a separate water closet with a door. At the end of the sink is a counter with a small lighted magnifying mirror and seat that slides beneath. This is where I did my makeup each day. The tub is large but shallower than normal, which makes it easy to step into.

There is plenty of storage with three wall shelves on either side of the sink area and three drawers beneath the sink.

Bigelow products such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, and lotion are provided in large bottles, as well as bar soap, shower caps, and lip balm.

I love how the mirrors slide aside to let you see your outside view. This is one of my favorite features of the Sky Suite.

Pro Tip: Ask your butler early on the first day how to operate the shower. It’s not obvious, and you don’t want to try to figure it out for yourself when you’re groggy in the morning. Trust me, it’s not intuitive.

The Balcony

The balcony is about 79 square feet and has a small table and two chairs. The table is large enough for eating snacks but not a meal. The glass panels in the railing allow for an unobstructed view.

Pro Tip: Fill out your room service menu for a continental breakfast and coffee and hang it on your doorknob the night before. Your butler will deliver your breakfast the next morning, and you can enjoy it on your balcony or in your cabin.

Bonuses

Plush robes and slippers will be awaiting you in the large closet. We never use the slippers, but the robes get a lot of mileage.

As mentioned before, you also have the use of binoculars and umbrellas during your cruise. You’ll probably also be provided with a complimentary beach bag a day or two into your cruise, which comes in handy for excursions or relaxing by the pool.

Complimentary sparkling wine on arrival is also a nice touch.

Pro Tip: Ask your butler for orange juice to mix with your sparkling wine. The complimentary sparkling wine isn’t top-shelf, but with orange juice is perfect. Who doesn’t love a mimosa?

Final Thoughts On The Celebrity Edge Sky Suite

The Celebrity Edge Sky Suite is roomy and comfortable enough to rival any high-end hotel, so wonderful that you won’t want to go home.
