NCL Dining Package and Specialty Restaurants: All The Important Details With Menus and Prices

If you plan to cruise on Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) soon and are curious about specialty dining, you may want to look into a specialty dining package. We have enjoyed many specialty meals on NCL and will give you all the details about the NCL dining packages and the specialty restaurants.

What Is A Specialty Dining Package

NCL has many restaurants on its ships, some complimentary and others specialty restaurants that are priced à la carte – you pay for each item ordered – or incur a cover charge. Ordering à la carte can be expensive, so a great way to save money is to purchase a specialty dining package.

Using the dining package doesn’t allow you to order anything or as much as you want. Varying from restaurant to restaurant, the dining package generally allows you to select an appetizer, an entree, a side dish or two, and a dessert. Alcoholic beverages and specialty coffees are not included.

To use your dining package for a meal, tell the hostess at the restaurant when you arrive that you plan to use your dining package, and they will note it on your account. Once seated, you should ask your waiter what your dining package includes at that restaurant.

What If You Don’t Have A Specialty Dining Package

If you don’t have a specialty dining package and want to dine at a specialty restaurant, you will either pay the cover charge of $59 or can order à la carte, whichever that restaurant requires. The charges will be applied to your onboard account.

If you plan to dine at two or more specialty restaurants during your cruise, purchasing a specialty dining package will be a cost-saver.

What Specialty Dining Packages Are Available

Specialty dining packages start at 2-meal packages for $99 per person and go up to 14-meal packages for $469 per person. You can only purchase a package for up to the number of days of your cruise, so you cannot purchase a 10-meal package for a 7-day cruise.

How To Upgrade Your Free At Sea Specialty Dining Package

Once you have booked your cruise, sign into your NCL account. Select MY NCL from the top menu bar and click VIEW ACCOUNT below your name.

In the box labeled MY CRUISE VACATIONS, you will see your booked cruises listed. Click the name of the cruise you would like to purchase a dining package for.

Scroll down to VACATION ADD-ONS and you will see an offer for a discounted specialty dining package, or for an upgrade to the dining package you received with the Free At Sea promotion.
