Are you thinking of booking an NCL Breakaway Haven Owner’s Suite? After staying in one for a week during our recent Western Caribbean cruise, we are very familiar with it. Read on for photos and a video of this fabulous suite, which is now one of our favorites!

The Ship
The Breakaway was the first in the line of Breakaway-class ships in the NCL fleet, with an inaugural sailing in 2013. In 2020, she was refurbished and is still in great shape today. With a capacity for 3,903 passengers and 1,657 crew, the Breakaway is a mid-size ship. She has seven complimentary restaurants, eight specialty restaurants, one exclusive restaurant and bar for the Haven, plus a Starbucks. If you’re thirsty, no worries โ the Breakaway has thirteen bars and lounges.

The Suite
We stayed in suite 16100, an owner’s suite in the Haven with a separate living area plus one and a half bathrooms and a large balcony. The suite has a total of 572 square feet, including a 95-square-foot balcony.

Outside the door is a doorbell button, plus lighted indicators for Make Up Room, Do Not Disturb, and At Home. Inside the door is a panel with buttons to change the lighted indicators.
The Living Room
When you walk into the suite, you will be amazed by the large living/dining area. The living room has a large couch โ the largest we’ve ever seen in a cruise ship cabin โ which is also a sofa bed, a glass coffee table, a nice accent chair with an ottoman, a desk, and a wall-mounted flatscreen TV. A slider leads to the balcony.
After I fell backward off the ottoman and hit my head while trying to use the desk, I moved it in front of the accent chair, where it belonged, and then borrowed a chair from the dining table to use at the desk. It worked out much better.
The desk holds a phone, a portable phone you can carry around the ship with you, room service menus, a notepad and pen, plus all your paperwork and your excursion tickets. There are two small drawers plus a shelf above.
Above the desk and TV areas are two large cubbies that can hold the belongings of extra guests in your cabin. With the sofa bed, your cabin can accommodate two extra guests.
The Dining Area
The dining area has an approximately 36″ table with four padded chairs. It was perfect for late-night snacks, and can easily accommodate a room-service meal.

The Butler Pantry
Across from the dining table is a butler pantry. Your glassware, cups, and saucers are on glass shelves above, while on the counter is your espresso machine with coffee pods and condiments, tea bags, and an ice bucket with glasses. Your welcome sparkling wine is in an ice bucket adjacent.
Beneath the counter are four drawers.
On the higher level of the counter is your allotment of canned water, plus an assortment of sodas and bottled water. Below the counter is a cubby where your mini fridge is hidden, which is stocked as you wish by your butler.

The Master Bedroom
The master bedroom is spacious with a king-size bed, two end tables with lamps, and a wall-mounted flatscreen TV with drawers beneath. A slider leads to the expansive balcony.
The nightstand to the left of the bed has one US electrical outlet, plus lighting controls for the room. The nightstand to the right of the bed has a phone but no electrical outlet.
If you need outlets on both sides of the bed, such as for CPAP machines, your cabin attendant can provide an extension cord and will tape it to the carpet so you won’t trip over it.
Store your suitcases underneath the bed. If there isn’t quite enough clearance, open your suitcase like a book and slide it beneath the bed.
The Closet and Dressing Area
Honestly, this was my favorite area of the suite!
Adjacent to the bedroom is a large walk-in closet on the left with plenty of drawers and cubby space, an area you can sit on (which can also display your shoe collection), plus a full-length mirror to check your outfit. A long rod is large enough for two people’s clothing, plus a half rod is below that can be flipped up for use.
Your safe is found in one of the cubbies, your robes and slippers will be in the closet, and a golf umbrella for your use during your cruise is in the closet.
On your right is a nice dressing area with a lighted mirror, a lighted magnifying mirror, desk space, three drawers, an ottoman, and a hair dryer. Beside it is shelving to hold your toiletries and pool towels.
The Master Bathroom
Passing through the closet and dressing area, you will find your bathroom, which is stunning. Featuring double sinks and a soaking tub, it also has a large walk-in waterfall shower with jets and a clothesline, and a water closet with a privacy door. Drawers are beneath the sinks. L’Occitane bath products are provided in pump bottles.
The Half Bath
Just inside and to the left of the door to the suite is a small half bath, perfect for when the other bathroom is occupied, or when you have guests.

The Balcony
Somehow I neglected to take photos of the balcony; sorry about that. However, it is 95 square feet with a table with four chairs, plus two padded loungers and a small table between. So nice!
