Curious about Norwegian Cruise Line’s suites on the Prima? We just returned from a fifteen-day transatlantic cruise on her and had a fabulous time. In this post, we will give you all the details about the NCL Prima Haven two-bedroom family villa with photos, including the living room, bedrooms, bathrooms, balcony, technology, and a video walkthrough.
The Ship
The Prima is the first in the new line of Prima-class ships in the NCL fleet, whose inaugural sailing was in November 2022. With a capacity for 3,099 passengers in 1,586 staterooms, the Prima is a mid-size ship. She has six complimentary restaurants and eight specialty restaurants, plus Starbucks. If you’re thirsty, you’re in luck – the Prima has eleven bars and lounges.
The Suite
We stayed in suite 15902, a two-bedroom family villa suite in the Haven with a separate living area plus two bathrooms and a large balcony. The suite has a total of 606 square feet, including a 138-square-foot balcony.
The walls of the cabins on the Prima are NOT magnetic, so your magnet hooks or clips will not work here.
Note that the door sign above has a doorbell button, plus lighted indicators for Make Up Room, Do Not Disturb, and At Home. The panel below is at the door, with a touchscreen at the top to adjust the temperature, change the lighted indicators, and adjust the lighting.
The entry hallway opens up to the living room, with sliding doors on the left and right leading to the bedrooms. The cabin door is mirrored on the back.
The Living Room
The living room is compact with just enough room for a small couch, a couple of side tables, a small dining table and two club chairs, and a wall-mounted flatscreen TV. The couch opens into a full-size bed.
Sheers and blackout drapes for the slider in the living room are controlled by a wall switch. The side window has a privacy shade and a blackout shade, also controlled by a wall switch.
Unlike most living areas in NCL cabins, this cabin does not have a desk area, leaving you nowhere to organize or display your paperwork (daily newsletters, schedules, etc.). And since the walls aren’t magnetic, we couldn’t use magnets to post our paperwork.
The Butler Pantry
The butler pantry is in the living room. On its small countertop, you will find a Nespresso machine with coffee pods, tea, and condiments. Bottled water is here, as well as the room service menus. Your room phone is located here, along with a notepad and pen.
Above the counter is a cabin that contains assorted glassware and coffee cups. Below the counter is a drawer with cutlery and a wine opener. Below the drawer is a cabinet that holds your minifridge and more water.
The Master Bedroom
The master bedroom contains a king-size bed with a pillowtop mattress, two bedside tables, a wall-mounted flatscreen TV, and a small stool. The room has a slider that accesses the balcony.
During the day, your bed will be made up with four feather pillows and a runner at the foot, which will be removed each evening during turndown service. If you don’t care for the pillows or comforter, no worries. Just ask your stateroom attendant for an alternative.
Your bed has a cubby beneath sizeable enough to hold a large suitcase. If you also have a carry-on suitcase, nest it within the large suitcase before stowing both below the bed.
On either side of the bed is a small nightstand with a lamp, which is affixed to the tabletop, plus a reading light attached to the wall. Inside the nightstand is one drawer for your belongings. Below each side of the bed is a large drawer for storage. A portable phone is located on one side of the bed.
Above each nightstand is a panel with two US electrical outlets and one USB port, as well as switches to control the room’s lighting.
The master bedroom closet is a small lighted walk-in with a bar and a half, a full-length swivel mirror, and shelving. A small safe is located in the closet, as well as robes for your use and complimentary slippers, and a golf umbrella.
The Master Bathroom
The master bathroom is roomy with a decent-sized walk-in shower. A double-size sink is nice but doesn’t have much counter space at all. The large mirror is lighted. One side wall has three shelves for storage, and two drawers are beneath the sink.
The shower has a large rainfall showerhead and several jets, as well as a shower wand. Dispenser bottles of L’Occitane shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are mounted on the wall. Above is a clothesline for drying wet clothing. On the side wall are built-in shelves.
The water closet is next to the shower. Its door is perilously close to the toilet, so watch your head. The ship’s movement can cause the door to close on you unexpectedly when you have it propped open with the magnetic holder.
The Second Bedroom
The second bedroom is one of the nicest upgrades to the two-bedroom family villa. Rather than a bunk, it has a full-size bed and is quite cozy. The wall that the room shares with the living room is privacy glass to allow daylight in, but there is a switch-controlled blackout screen that can be lowered.
A nightstand is on either side of the bed with a wall-mounted reading light above, plus a control panel with two US electrical outlets and one USB outlet.
Across from the bed is a wall-mounted flatscreen TV.
On either side of the bed is a drawer beneath, and at the end of the bed is an empty cubby for your suitcase.
The smaller bedroom closet is a lighted built-in with a bar and shelving. A safe is located in the closet, as well as robes for your use and complimentary slippers.
The Second Bathroom
The second bathroom is a bit small but functional. A lighted mirror is over a single sink with a towel cubby below and two drawers. On the side wall is a cubby with three shelves.
The shower is also small. It has a rainfall showerhead and jets, a shower wand, a shelving unit in the wall, and a retractable clothesline.
The toilet is in a separate water closet next to the shower.
Refreshment Center
One of the small end tables has a tray holding an ice bucket, tongs, and two glasses. Your ice bucket is standing nearby for sparkling wine.
Your coffee and tea paraphernalia are located in the butler pantry, as are your glassware, dinnerware, and flatware with napkins.
Technology
As noted above, the suite is decked out with switches that control the temperature, the lighting, and the drapes and shades. Each room has its own control panel, allowing you to keep different rooms at different temperatures, which is wonderful.
Each room also has its own TV, for a total of three in the suite.
The Balcony
At about 138 square feet, the balcony is quite large, with room enough for two cushy easy chairs, plus a small table and four club chairs.

Final Thoughts on the NCL Prima Haven Two-Bedroom Family Villa
The Prima’s version of the two-bedroom family villa is a bit different from that on other NCL ships – some differences are good and others are not.
The good? The bed in the Prima’s second bedroom versus the bunk in other versions. The bad? The smaller living room, lack of a desk, and the lack of magnetic walls.
Do they cancel each other out? Maybe. Only you can decide which version works best for you.
