Starting January 2, 2024, Norwegian Cruise Line solo cabins will be almost doubled fleetwide to respond to the recent surge in solo cruisers. Once implemented, nearly 1,000 solo cabins will be available on Norwegian’s 19 ships, with more square footage than offered before.

What Solo Cabins Are Offered Now

On NCL, solo cabins have been known as studio cabins. Studio cabins are intimate and cozy, measuring about 100 or more square feet and featuring a single or full-size bed, a flat-screen TV, a safe, and a hairdryer. The cabins are stylishly designed and come with all the amenities and comforts of a regular cabin, making them an ideal home base for your solo adventures.
Up until now, studio cabins have only been available on the Viva, Prima, Encore, Escape, Bliss, Breakaway, Getaway, Epic, and Pride of America.
What Will The New Solo Cabins Be Like?
New solo cabins are available for bookings now and will continue to be rolled out for sailings on or after January 2, 2024. In addition to the ships mentioned above that already have studio cabins, these new cabins will now also be available on the Sky, Sun, Star, Dawn, Gem, Jewel, Pearl, Joy, Jade, and Joy.
Based on changes to the deck plans on NCL’s website, it appears that they are repurposing some current inside, oceanview, and balcony cabins as solo inside, solo oceanview, and solo balcony cabins, and repricing them accordingly.

Although the pricing is dynamic on cruises, rising and falling with demand, I priced a Western Caribbean cruise on Norwegian Breakaway departing January 21, 2024. Here is how the prices broke down at that moment:
- Studio cabin (97-131 sq. ft.): $1249
- Solo inside cabin (130-150 sq. ft.): $1189
- Inside cabin (130-150 sq. ft.): $1359
- Solo oceanview cabin (161-218 sq. ft.): $1269
- Oceanview cabin (161-218 sq. ft.): $1398
- Solo balcony cabin (204-355 sq. ft.): $1589
- Balcony cabin (204-355 sq. ft.): $1758
Basically, NCL is repurposing certain inside, oceanview, and balcony cabins as solo cabins with a discount of a little more than 10% on average, making them somewhat cheaper than paying for the double-occupancy larger cabin and possibly incurring a single supplement. Plus, solo cabins also come with studio lounge privileges.
All solo cabins are priced with the Free At Sea perks included, which offers a beverage package, WiFi, a $50 discount per shore excursion, a specialty dining package, and more.
More Itineraries For Solo Cruises
Another benefit of adding solo cabins to the entire fleet is that this opens up itineraries at a discount for solo cruisers that hadn’t existed on Norwegian Cruise Line before. NCL sails to six continents, which with their entire fleet having solo cabins gives solo cruisers much more choice in itinerary at a lower price.
