Our Celebrity Beyond Sky Suite

The Sky Suite on Beyond is like a studio apartment, a combination living and sleeping area with a separate bathroom. At 319 square feet, it’s spacious enough that you don’t feel cramped. The color scheme for the Beyond’s cabins is cream and taupe with terracotta for a pop of color.

We chose suite 11213 on Deck Eleven, toward the aft (or rear) of the ship. Our cabin was close to the aft elevator bank, which made it quick and easy to move around the ship.

The Sleeping Area

In a cruise cabin, the bed is the star of the show and where you’ll be spending most of your cabin time. As in most suites, the bed is king-size but can be separated into twins. In the Retreat, your bed has a mattress topper that provides softness without sacrificing firmness. The mattress is cashmere, which is quite comfortable. Crisp white sheets and a comforter keep you cozy at night.

Since the usual comforter is a little too warm for us, we asked our cabin steward to switch it out for a couple of thin blankets, and he didn’t disappoint. Within an hour, our bed had been transformed, covered in two sheets sandwiching thin blankets. Perfect!

The bed has two pillows per person, one firm and one soft, plus four decorative pillows and a bed runner that are removed during your nightly turn-down service.

On the left side of the bed is a narrow bedside table with a bedside lamp and three sections, large enough for you to store smaller items. There is no electrical outlet on this side of the bed.

On the right, the bedside table is twice as wide to hold a room phone. A single 110V outlet is on this side of the bed, plus a lamp. I always choose this side of the bed because of my CPAP machine.

This table has two larger sections. In the top one is a tray to hold small items, which is a thoughtful touch. The lower section holds a decorative bowl, which I used to store my CPAP tubing during the day.

Furnishings

Seating is provided by a chaise-style couch with two decorative pillows, although it’s a little stiff and uncomfortable. A modern coffee table gives you a small eating area inside, large enough for enjoying a continental breakfast or snacks.

The artwork kept with the color scheme and was interesting and evocative. I found myself staring at this one a lot…why, I have no idea. I just liked it.

Refreshments

A tea and coffee station is on your counter with a tea kettle for heating water, two cups, saucers, demitasse spoons, instant coffee, assorted tea bags, and sugars and sweeteners.

Next to the tea and coffee station is a tray with three large Evian bottled waters, two cans of water, an ice bucket with tongs, and two stemless glasses. Also provided are two wineglasses and two champagne flutes.

Here you see our mini fridge stocked with complimentary Cokes, Fanta, Diet Coke, canned water as we’d requested, several beers, and a little orange juice to mix with our sparkling wine for mimosas.

Technology

On the dresser is an attractive white box that hides a charging station. One 220V and two 110V plugs are available, plus two USB ports. Your cords can be tucked inside and hidden away.

Above the dresser is a large flat-screen TV that’s the perfect size for such a large room. It’s on a swivel arm, so you can angle it toward the bed for better viewing. A remote is provided.

In the entryway is a control panel for the room where you can change the temperature, raise or lower the lighting, or open and close the drapes. Pre-sets at the bottom give you easy lighting/drape combinations for morning, movie, evening, and sleep.

Closets and Storage

As you enter the cabin is a large closet with a full clothing bar as well as a half bar, and wooden hangers. Dresses or other longer items can hang on the side where there isn’t the half bar.

The inside of one door has a full-length mirror, which comes in handy. My one complaint is that there isn’t enough room in the bottom of this closet to store all my shoes.

You’ll find your robes and slippers, as well as a large umbrella.

Next to the closet is a cabinet with three shelves and three small drawers. A safe for your valuables is on one of the shelves. Here you’ll find a laundry bag and order form, plus a small umbrella and binoculars for your use during your cruise.

The Bathroom

The bathroom is spacious with a low spa tub, which has a shower plus a detachable wand, a wide double sink, and a separate water closet for privacy. In the corner is a counter with a small lighted magnifying mirror and seat that slides beneath. This is where I did my makeup each day.

Storage is plenty in this bathroom. Each side of the sink area has three wall shelves, plus there are three nice-size drawers beneath the sink, perfect for holding your toiletry bags.

Bigelow shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion are provided in large bottles, as well as bar soap, lip balm, and shower caps.

I love how the mirror separates to slide aside, which allows you to see your outside view. This is one of my favorite features of the Sky Suite.

The Balcony

The balcony is also spacious at 79 square feet, stretching across the width of the cabin, and is furnished with a small table and two chairs. The table is large enough for eating snacks, but isn’t large enough to hold a meal for two. Glass panels give you an unobstructed view.

Bonuses

Nice robes and slippers can be found in the large closet. We don’t use the slippers, but the robes always get a lot of mileage on our trips.

As mentioned before, you also have the use of binoculars, a large umbrella, and a small umbrella during your stay. A complimentary beach bag will probably show up in your cabin on Day Two, which is perfect for excursions or carrying your towels and sunscreen to the pool.

Complimentary sparkling wine on arrival is also a nice touch.

Pro Tip: Ask your butler for orange juice to mix with your sparkling wine for mimosas. The complimentary sparkling wine isn’t top-shelf, but combined with orange juice is perfect.

Last Thoughts On The Celebrity Beyond Sky Suite

The Sky Suite is comfortable and luxurious, just as nice as any high-end hotel. Honestly, it’s so wonderful that you won’t want to go home. We sure didn’t want to.
