Are you booked in the Haven on Norwegian and curious about what to expect from the Haven Restaurant? We have enjoyed it immensely on Norwegian Joy. Here is our experience, which is similar on all of NCL’s ships.
We recently sailed on Norwegian Joy for a Panama Canal cruise and stayed in the Haven again, which is always wonderful. One of the highlights of our trip was the Haven Restaurant, one of the exclusive benefits offered to suite guests in The Haven. Both the restaurant’s food and service are second to none, and its ambiance is contemporary and luxurious.

The Details
- Location: Deck 18 forward on NCL Joy
- Specialty: American fine dining
- Dress Code for breakfast and lunch: Casual
- Dress Code for dinner: Smart Casual
- Breakfast hours: 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. (varies by port)
- Lunch hours: 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
- Dinner hours: 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
The Haven Restaurant
A large waiting area is available but usually isn’t needed except at peak dinnertime. A hostess greets you at the door, takes your room number, and assigns you to a table. Don’t hesitate to ask for your table preference; she will do her best to accommodate you.
The restaurant is large and spacious, with both indoor and outdoor seating. Tables for two, four, and more are available, some with banquette seating.
The white-cloth-covered tables are beautifully set with white dinnerware. Fresh orchids adorn each table, welcoming you in style.
Your waiter will come to introduce themselves, ask if you have any food allergies, and will set you up with the water of your choice while you peruse the menu. Unlike other cruise lines’ exclusive restaurants, NCL has one waiter to tend to your needs.
The Haven Restaurant Menu
The food at the Haven Restaurant is globally inspired and always delicious. Below is a sample menu for the Haven.
Breakfast
The breakfast menu is a single page but includes everything from traditional egg breakfasts to a keto omelet. Sides of bacon, hash browns, grits, country potatoes, ham, and sausage are available, as are toast and English muffins.
As always with the Haven, if there is something you want that isn’t listed, be sure to ask. Off-menu-item requests aren’t unusual for the Haven and are accommodated when possible.
In addition to menu items, a continental breakfast buffet is available with many items to choose from, including croissants, yogurt, pastries, sliced meat, cheese, fresh fruit, and more. It’s always a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach.

Lunch
For lunch, you can select from various sandwiches, soups, salads, or entrees. Be sure to try the Brie Burger. It is delicious. And don’t forget the dessert!
Dinner
Dinner at the Haven Restaurant is always exceptional. My prime rib, seen below, nearly extended off the plate! Of course, I had to have a little help from my husband with that one.
Love filet mignon but don’t eat seafood? Ask for a double filet and no lobster; it’s no problem. As always, ask for what you want.
